Vijay Punjabi Lifts Men’s Title at Karnataka State Tenpin Bowling Championship

Bengaluru, Feb 1: Vijay Punjabi clinched the Men’s title at the K. Damodar & Co 10th Karnataka State Tenpin Bowling Championship (Men), which concluded at Amoeba, Church Street.


In a thrilling stepladder final played over two games on a cumulative pinfall basis, second seed Vijay Punjabi staged a remarkable comeback to defeat top seed Akaash Ashok Kumar. After conceding a 24-pin deficit in Game 1 (190–214), Vijay responded with an outstanding performance in Game 2, rolling five consecutive strikes to score 217 against Akaash’s 179. Vijay sealed the title with a total score of 407–393, winning by 14 pins.

The road to the finals featured an intense stepladder round. In the opening match, third seed Shanmugananda continued his impressive form, defeating fourth seed Parvez Ahmed by 37 pins (406–369). In the second stepladder match, Shanmugananda took a strong early lead in Game 1, scoring 231 against Vijay Punjabi’s 189. However, Vijay turned the tables in Game 2 with a commanding 238, while Shanmugananda managed 136, resulting in a decisive 50-pin victory for Vijay (427–377) and securing his place in the final.
