Sitharaman said India’s strong domestic economic base provides the country with the flexibility to respond to changes in the global environment without allowing external pressures to significantly affect its growth prospects.

India has continued to show resilience despite uncertainties in the international economy. Strong domestic demand, investment activity and growth across key sectors have supported the country’s economic performance.

The Finance Minister also stressed the importance of India remaining responsive to developments in global trade and investment. As economic conditions change, the country is looking to identify new opportunities while protecting its domestic economic interests.

India’s latest growth performance has added to confidence in the economy. The country recorded 7.8 per cent GDP growth in the first quarter of the 2026-27 financial year, reflecting continued economic activity across several sectors.

The government is also focusing on strengthening domestic manufacturing, investment and consumption to ensure that growth remains broad-based.

At the same time, global risks such as energy price volatility, financial market fluctuations and changes in international trade could continue to influence the economic outlook.

India’s ability to maintain strong domestic demand while adjusting to global developments will remain important for sustaining growth in the coming months.

Sitharaman’s remarks underline the government’s focus on maintaining economic stability and growth while ensuring that India remains prepared to respond to changes in the global economic environment.
