India’s industrial production registered a healthy growth of 6.7% in September 2026 reflecting sustained industrial activity and strengthening economic momentum, said Mr. Nirmal K. Minda, President, ASSOCHAM.
The manufacturing sector’s 7.6% growth, supported by electricity and gas supply expanding by 11.2%, highlights the resilience of India’s industrial base and the continued expansion of production activity.
Encouragingly, 17 out of 23 manufacturing industry groups recorded positive growth, with motor vehicles, electrical equipment, and rubber and plastics products registering strong growth of 19%, 33.9% and 19.9%, respectively. The impressive growth of 12.2% in intermediate goods and 10.4% in capital goods further reflects sustained industrial demand and investment momentum, said Mr. Minda.
The positive industrial momentum will boost investor confidence, strengthen manufacturing competitiveness, support employment generation and contribute to India’s sustained economic growth.
